The steps to try before your next upload
- Keep your original edited photo. Save a separate copy before cleaning. Your original may contain useful attribution, location or editing history.
- Open Transfa and choose that photo. Use a JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 25 MB. You can choose several photos together. The cleaning happens in your browser; your photo is not uploaded to our server.
- Save the cleaned copy. The new filename ends in
-clean. That helps you choose it instead of the original when posting. - Create a new Instagram upload using that copy. Preview the post and check the published result. Complete any disclosure Instagram requires. A file cleanup does not change whether content was made or edited with AI.
An early user reported that a cleaned photo no longer received the label on Instagram. This is one user-reported photo result. We haven’t independently reproduced it or measured a success rate, and it doesn’t establish a video result.
Save the right copy on iPhone or Android
On iPhone
When Save / share photo appears, tap it and choose Save Image if your phone offers that option. If you use Download photo, open Files → Downloads, open the cleaned file, then Share → Save Image. In Instagram’s picker, select that newly saved copy.
On Android
Use the save/share option your browser offers, or download the cleaned photo and find it in Downloads. Open or share that file into your normal posting workflow. The exact save location depends on your browser and phone.
Try one photo first. For a batch, individual photo saves are easier to use in Instagram than a ZIP. The ZIP option is useful for storing or transferring the whole batch.
What if Instagram still shows AI info?
First check that you selected the file ending in -clean. An editor may add new editing information if you open and export the photo again, so clean after your final edit. Don’t assume that repeatedly cleaning the same copy will help.
If the label stays, another signal or a disclosure may be responsible. Meta says it uses industry signals and user disclosures. Transfa can remove only supported information stored in the file. It cannot inspect Instagram’s decision, detect every AI signal, or remove invisible watermarks. A metadata report without findings does not mean “not AI.”
For a label you believe is incorrect, use the help or reporting options currently offered in the Instagram app. We don’t provide a universal “turn off AI detection” setting because we cannot verify that one exists for every post type and account.
Can I remove the label from an existing Instagram post?
Transfa cannot update a post that is already online. It only creates a new file on your device. Cleaning a downloaded copy does not change the version already on Instagram. Any future upload is a separate post; your old likes, comments and URL do not move with the cleaned file.
What does Transfa actually change?
Photo editors can store hidden information called metadata: editing history, camera and location information, or Content Credentials containers. Transfa removes supported containers while preserving compressed photo data, color profiles and orientation information needed to display the image correctly. It does not reduce the file’s dimensions or re-encode the image.
It cannot change the visible content of your photo, remove a visible watermark, erase invisible AI watermarks, or promise that a social network will leave your upload unlabeled. Read why small edits can trigger AI info, or see the separate video beta guide.
