Try the free video beta

  1. Keep the original video. Use a standard, self-contained MP4 or MOV exported from your editor.
  2. Open Transfa and choose Video beta. Select one clip. The limit is 50 MB on touch devices and 100 MB on other devices. Try a short clip first.
  3. Wait with the tab open. Processing happens in a local browser worker. The video is not uploaded to our server.
  4. Save the cleaned video. Use Save / share if your device offers it, or Download video. On iPhone, open the download in Files and use Share → Save Video if offered.
  5. Check the result before posting. Play the saved file and check sound and orientation. Then use that copy in your normal posting workflow, following the platform’s disclosures.

Why the video file may stay the same size

Video files store playback offsets that point to compressed media. Transfa replaces supported descriptive-information boxes with empty space of the same length rather than moving the media around. It also clears supported creation and modification dates. The file size normally stays unchanged even when information has been cleaned.

The encoded video and audio data, playback timing and rotation headers stay in place. We tested generated MP4 and MOV clips with the movie information both before and after the media, comparing decoded frames and audio, duration, rotation and seeking. Those technical tests do not establish how Instagram will label the cleaned upload.

Which videos are supported?

The beta is for ordinary MP4/MOV clips with supported H.264/HEVC video and AAC or supported PCM audio descriptions. Browser playback and native saving also depend on your device. A valid container doesn’t mean every browser can play its codec.

Encrypted, fragmented or externally linked videos are rejected. Clips with separate metadata, subtitle or sensor tracks are also rejected rather than silently dropping or preserving those tracks. Some camera exports and advanced editor files will therefore be unsupported. WebM, MKV and AVI are not supported in this beta.

If a file is rejected, export a standard video/audio-only MP4 or MOV from your editor and try that copy. The editor’s export may change quality; Transfa itself doesn’t re-encode. A short clip is easier on mobile memory than a full-length recording.

What won’t this remove?

It does not erase visible logos, captions burned into frames, or invisible AI watermarks. It does not search the encoded picture or sound for AI signals. Unknown container information may remain; this is not a complete privacy scrub.

It can clear supported movie/track metadata containers, supported XMP and C2PA UUID containers, and supported header dates. Container inspection is not signature verification. Cleanup can remove credits or provenance, so keep the original.

It cannot change labels on an existing Reel, override a disclosure, or promise an unlabeled new upload. The photo workflow has one early user-reported Instagram result; that is not evidence for video. If you need photo instructions, use the Instagram photo guide.
