The same file can travel between social apps
A photo edited for Instagram might also be posted on Facebook or Threads. If you use the same original file, it can carry the same editing information into each upload. The platform’s handling and display may still differ.
Meta says its AI-labeling approach uses industry signals and user disclosures, and it distinguishes content edited with AI from content generated with AI. That explains why file information is relevant, but it does not tell us which signal caused the label on your particular post.
Transfa’s early user report concerns one Instagram photo test. We have not established label removal on Facebook or Threads. This page describes a workflow you can try, not a tested result for those services.
Try a cleaned photo before a new upload
- Finish editing first. Export the version you actually want to post. Keep an original in case you need its information later.
- Choose it in Transfa. Supported photo types are JPEG, PNG and WebP. Cleanup happens locally without uploading the photo to us.
- Save the copy ending in
-clean. Use the native save/share option if available, or download it. On iPhone, you may need to open the download in Files and use Share → Save Image. - Select that saved copy in Facebook or Threads. Complete any required disclosures. Check the published result on the platform you used.
If your account cross-posts to another service, check both destinations separately. The result displayed in one app is not evidence of how the other app labeled its version.
File cleanup doesn’t give you control of Meta’s label
The tool removes supported metadata containers, not the fact that AI was used. It does not instruct Facebook or Threads to remove a label. It also does not detect or erase invisible watermarks, change image content, or determine whether a disclosure is required.
For unsupported photo formats such as HEIC, export to JPEG or PNG in your photo app first. That format conversion can affect quality; Transfa doesn’t perform it. For supported files, our cleanup preserves compressed image data and does not recompress the image.
What about a Facebook post that is already live?
Transfa creates files; it does not manage your social accounts or edit existing posts. Saving a cleaned version will not change a label on an existing post. A new upload is a separate platform action and may still get a label.
And videos?
The separate MP4/MOV beta cleans supported file information without re-encoding video or audio. Platform video-label outcomes have not been validated. Read the video cleanup guide before trying it.
If you are troubleshooting Instagram instead, use the Instagram photo guide or the explanation of AI info after small edits.
